Who this is for
-
You passed matric, but one or more marks are too low for the course, bursary or job you want
-
You want to rewrite specific subjects, not repeat the full year
-
You're a recent matriculant, or you finished school years ago and want to go back for one subject
-
You're prepared to put in the work between now and the exam
Three ways to rewrite
Rewrite Only — no monthly tuition If your previous school-based assessment (SBA) marks can be carried over, you only rewrite the final exam. You study on your own; Shaati handles your registration and exam entry through SACAI. Whether your SBA can be retained depends on your previous results, so we check this first.
Principal Repeat the subject with Shaati's full academic structure behind you: study plan, assessments, marking, feedback and reports. You manage your own daily study.
Essentia Everything in Principal, plus daily and weekly prescribed work that is submitted, marked and tracked, for candidates who want more structure and accountability.
Not sure which route fits? Send us your results and we'll tell you which options are open to you.

The dates that matter
-
Now to March 2027 — register. SACAI closes learner and subject registration in mid-March. The 2027 date hasn't been published yet; in 2026 it was 13 March. We'll confirm the exact date as soon as SACAI does.
-
October/November 2027 — write. You sit the final NSC exams for your rewrite subjects.
Registering early also gives you the most study time before your papers.

How it works
-
Tell us what you need. Send your subjects and previous results through the enquiry form.
-
We check your options. We look at your results and whether your SBA can be retained, and tell you which route is open to you.
-
You get the full costs. Fees, documents and dates, before you commit to anything.
-
You apply. Complete Shaati's online application and submit your documents.
-
We register you with SACAI. You're entered for the October/November 2027 exams in your chosen subjects.
Knowing the work isn't always enough
Many rewrite candidates knew more than their first mark showed. Marks were lost to misread questions, answers written in a form the marking guideline couldn't credit, or running out of time. If that sounds familiar, our Exam Intelligence programme trains exactly that, per subject, against your subject's real past papers and marking guidelines. It can be added to any rewrite route.
Questions
Will rewriting guarantee a better mark?
No. Nobody can honestly promise that. What we can do is make sure you're registered correctly, on the right route, with a clear plan for the exam.
Do I have to repeat the whole year?
No. You only rewrite the subjects you choose.
Do I need to attend classes?
No. Shaati is a distance-education provider. You study from home; the level of structure and support depends on the route you choose.
Can I rewrite if I finished matric years ago?
In many cases, yes. Send us your results and we'll confirm what's possible.
What happens after I enquire?
Barend or someone from the Shaati team follows up personally — by call, email or WhatsApp — to go through your results and options. There's no obligation to enrol.
